Calm-water beaches across Greece typically sit in sheltered bays, protected from the prevailing meltemi (north Aegean) wind, or on lee shores where the geography blocks open-sea swell. They are the safest, most predictable beaches for relaxed swimming, family snorkeling, paddleboarding, and floating — and the easiest places to bring small children into the water without negotiating waves.
In our inventory, the calmest waters concentrate in the Saronic coast of Attica — including the geothermal Vouliagmeni Lake — the inner bays of Corfu's east coast, the sheltered turquoise pocket at Karydi Beach on the Sithonia peninsula in Chalkidiki, and lagoon-protected stretches in Lefkada, the green-amphitheatre bay of Antisamos on Kefalonia's east coast, Naxos (notably the wide shallow bay at Plaka Beach) and the family-favourite Ornos on Mykonos. The list below covers every calm-water beach across all regions; if you want windier conditions for surfing or windsurfing, check individual beach wave notes before you go.
