Description
Lake Vouliagmeni is a rare thermal-brackish lake framed by rocky cliffs and pine woodland, about 20 km south of Athens. Rather than a sandy beach, swimmers access the lake from decks and platforms and a short pier—there is no broad sandy shoreline. The water is remarkably clear, gently warm year-round (circa 22-29 °C), and quite calm given its sheltered basin. The facility is fully managed with sunbeds, umbrellas, changing rooms, showers, café/restaurant, lifeguards, and accessible walkways. Parking is available for visitors. Because of its therapeutic waters and enclosed nature, there are no high waves, but wind gusts over the lake may produce light surface ripples. As a protected natural monument (Natura 2000), diving into underwater caves is prohibited.
