Description
Anavissos Beach stretches over a wide, protected bay just south of Athens. The shore is mostly sandy, sometimes with gravel or coarser sand near the water’s edge. The sea is crystal clear, with shallow depth extending quite far out, making it popular for families and swimmers. Under normal conditions the waters are calm; when winds pick up, light chop may appear and windsurfers sometimes come out. Access is via the Athens-Sounio coastal road, and public transport (KTEL buses) serve the area. Along the coastline there is free roadside parking and some dedicated lots. The beach is well organized in many sections: sunbeds and umbrellas, changing cabins, showers, toilets, beach bars and cafés. Water sports are offered in parts of the beach. Crowds can be heavy in high season; check lifeguard presence and observe any zoned sections.
