Description
Prasonisi Beach sits at the very southern tip of Rhodes, where the Aegean and Mediterranean seas meet. This long, broad stretch of sand narrows to a tombolo that connects the main island to a small islet. The beach is exposed to prevailing winds—the west side is often choppy and popular with windsurfers, while the east side remains calmer, making it better for swimming. Reaching it involves driving south from the village of Kattavia along a paved road that ends at a large dirt parking area near the beach. Parking is roadside and can get busy in summer. Despite its popularity, the beach is lightly developed: you’ll find a couple of beach bars offering drinks and snacks, plus rental stands for windsurfing and kitesurfing equipment. The sand is fine and golden, and the water is clear. It’s a spot that appeals equally to water sports enthusiasts and those after a laid-back day by the sea, though the wind can pick up quickly. There are no formal sunbed or umbrella rentals, so bring your own shade and supplies.
