Description
Marathon Beach (along the Nea Makri / Agios Panteleimonas stretch) features a long sandy shore with a gently sloping seabed and remarkably clear shallow water; the sand is typically fine and golden, though occasional rockers or coarser grains appear near edges. The sea is usually calm, with only light chop under stronger winds. The beach is partly organized: many sections offer sunbeds, umbrellas, showers, toilets and lifeguards, while other parts remain free and more natural. Access is by coastal road with nearby municipal parking and roadside spaces. Beach bars and tavernas line the shore. Caution: in less supervised stretches, swim carefully and watch for submerged rocks or sudden depth changes. In busy season parts may feel crowded.
