Description
Very long, predominantly fine sand beach along the south side of Laganas Bay within the National Marine Park. Shallow entry and typically clear, but water can be less transparent near the busy resort strip and boat lanes. Generally sheltered in the gulf with mostly calm conditions; occasional chop with southerly winds. Access is easy by road through the resort; the beachfront is lined with venues and boat vendors. The area is organized with extensive sunbed/umbrella concessions and beach bars. Boat rentals and turtle-watching trips depart from the beach; water sports operate in designated areas. Important cautions: this is a protected loggerhead turtle nesting zone—beach use is limited to daytime (approx. 07:00 to sunset), stay within the lower 5 m of shore, avoid marked nests, and keep clear of hatchlings. Expect heavy crowds, music from bars, and frequent boat traffic in season.
