Description
Marmari Beach runs along the north coast of Kos, a couple of kilometres west of the village of Marmari itself. It's a broad, flat stretch of fine sand, shelving very gently into calm, shallow water – ideal for paddling and safe swimming. The beach faces north across the narrow Kos Strait, so it catches the afternoon breeze, making it a favourite for windsurfers, though the water stays smooth. Sunbeds and umbrellas are laid out in neat rows in front of the handful of beach bars and tavernas that line the shore; the vibe is orderly and family-friendly. You reach it via a paved road from Kos Town, with ample roadside parking along the coastal strip. It can get busy in July and August, but the long sandy expanse means you can usually find a spot. Bring nothing: everything you need – cold drinks, simple Greek food, water toys – is right there. Not a wild cove, but a comfortable, well-served beach that delivers exactly what it promises.
