    The Best Beaches in Rhodes

11 standout Rhodes beaches, from the golden sand under Tsambika Monastery to the snorkel coves near Faliraki and the windsurf sands of Prasonisi, grouped by coast, with access and family notes.

Curated by the Beach Atlas team · Updated July 2026

Rhodes splits by coast, and almost all of its famous beaches sit on the sheltered east side. That is where you will find the golden sand of Tsampika below its hilltop monastery, the Blue Flag resort strand at Faliraki, and the bay under the clifftop acropolis at Lindos Beach with the sheltered lagoon of St Paul's Bay beside it. Small snorkel coves like Anthony Quinn and Ladiko tuck in just south of Faliraki. The windswept west coast around Ixia and the southern tip at Prasonisi are where the windsurfers go. Browse every verified beach on the island on Rhodes.

This is a curated best-of rather than the full list. Most east-coast beaches are organized and reachable by car or bus from Rhodes Town, the snorkel coves are small and fill early in summer, and Prasonisi at the southern tip is a longer drive best saved for a windy day. Pick a beach below, then use each beach page for parking and access detail before you go.

The east coast: golden sand and family bays

The sheltered east coast is where most people spend their beach days, a long run of gently shelving sand that suits families. Tsampika is the standout, a broad arc of fine golden sand beneath the hill topped by Tsambika Monastery, with a large free car park and shallow water that stays safe for children. Faliraki is the island's big Blue Flag resort beach, nearly a kilometre of sand backed by every amenity and water sport. Below the acropolis, Lindos Beach curves around a sheltered, fully organized bay, while further up the coast Kolymbia and the tamarisk-shaded Agathi near Haraki offer the same easy swimming with fewer crowds. For a smaller sandy cove, Glystra just south of Lindos is a local favourite.

The coves for snorkelling and calm water

A cluster of small, sheltered coves just south of Faliraki hold the island's clearest water. Anthony Quinn Bay, named after the actor who filmed on Rhodes in the early 1960s, is a compact sand-and-pebble cove framed by low cliffs, with calm water over rock that shelters fish; it is small and fills quickly, so arrive early. Next door, Ladiko is a quieter horseshoe of sand and pebble backed by pines. Further south, tucked beneath the Lindos acropolis, St Paul's Bay is a near-enclosed sandy lagoon with invariably calm water and a tiny white chapel on the shore, one of the most sheltered swims on the island.

The windsurf ends: the west coast and Prasonisi

Rhodes has a genuine wind side, and it is where the watersports concentrate. The west coast north of Rhodes Town, anchored by Ixia, is a pebbly, hotel-lined strip that picks up the afternoon breeze and draws windsurfers and kitesurfers. At the far southern tip, Prasonisi is the island's windsurfing landmark: a long sand tombolo where the Aegean meets the Mediterranean, with a wind-exposed west side for the boards and a calmer east side for swimmers. It is unorganized and a fair drive from the resorts, so bring water and shade and treat it as a day trip.
