Description
Paralia Elli is the long, pebbly beach right at the edge of Rhodes Old Town, just a short walk from the main shopping streets and the marina. The shoreline is composed of smooth, rounded pebbles, and the water is clear with a moderate chop when the wind picks up. Sunbeds and umbrellas line the shore in neat rows, and a beach bar serves drinks and snacks. It is one of the most accessible beaches on the island – you reach it by following the coastal road from the old town walls, and roadside parking is available but very tight in summer. The beach can get crowded, especially on weekends, partly because of the easy access and the youthful, lively atmosphere. Facilities include toilet blocks and showers, though these are not always well maintained. Because it is situated within the city, it is best for a convenient quick dip or a lazy afternoon, not for solitude. The water is generally calm enough for confident swimmers, and the pebbles are comfortable with a mat or a thick towel.
