Description
Stretching along the east coast of Rhodes, this beach is named for its distinct reddish sand, coloured by iron oxide. The shoreline is long and gently sloping, with moderately exposed waters that are clear and shallow near the edge, making it a popular spot for families and casual swimmers. The beach sits between low sand dunes and scrubland, with the main road running behind it; a short paved path leads down from the roadside parking area. It can get busy in peak season, particularly around the central section where sunbeds and umbrellas are available. Several beach bars and a taverna serve drinks and meals, so you can easily spend the day without bringing much. For those seeking a quieter spot, the northern end tends to be less crowded. The setting is low-key and functional rather than dramatic, but the unusual sand colour gives it character.
