Description
Ixia Beach stretches along the west coast of Rhodes, just north of Rhodes Town, where the coast is lined with hotels and apartments. The beach is predominantly pebbly and shingle, so bring appropriate footwear. The water is clear and can be lively when the afternoon wind picks up, making it a popular spot for windsurfing and other water sports — conditions that also attract families who appreciate the reliable breeze. Sunbeds and umbrellas are available for hire, and a string of tavernas and beach bars serve food and drinks within steps of the shore. Showers, toilets, and lifeguards add to the convenience. Reaching the beach is straightforward: take the main coastal road from Rhodes Town; parking is roadside along the front, though it fills up on busy summer days. The beach faces west, so sunset views are a notable feature, and the atmosphere remains relaxed rather than raucous. While not Blue Flag, it remains a practical, well-serviced option for a day by the sea.
