Description
Kokkini Ammos is a small cove on the east coast of Rhodes, roughly halfway between Lindos and Kiotari. The beach takes its name from the reddish tint of the sand, which is coarse and mixed with pebbles in places. The sea shelves gently, making it a safe spot for swimming, though moderate wave exposure can bring a refreshing chop. Shade is limited to a few tamarisk trees and the row of rented umbrellas. Reaching it involves a short drive down a dirt track from the main road; cars park informally along the verge. A seasonal beach bar serves drinks and simple meals, and sunbeds line the shore in summer. The cove can feel quite busy in July and August, but outside peak times it retains a relaxed, low-key atmosphere. There are no formal changing rooms or showers, so bring what you need for the day.
