    Golden Beach

    Thassos
    In Thassos

Golden Beach is a long, broad sandy shore on the east coast of Thassos, backed by the resort areas of Skala Panagia and Skala Potamia. Soft golden sand and shallow, warm water make it a practical family beach, while the exposed bay can develop the moderate wave action recorded in the dataset. Organised sections provide sunbeds, umbrellas, showers, toilets, beach bars, tavernas and food, with open stretches available along the coast. Parking is mainly roadside and can tighten near popular entrances in July and August, so walking farther along the beach can lead to quieter space. The Golden Beach Camping section is officially listed for the 2026 Blue Flag season, which supports the updated certification field without implying every operator controls the award. Family-friendly use is confirmed; live service prices and seasonal opening dates are not stored.

    Paradise Beach

    Thassos
    In Thassos

Along the southeast coast of Thassos, just west of Potos, Paradise Beach is a broad sandy strand backed by pines and low dunes. The water is clear with a gentle to moderate swell, good for swimming and snorkelling. Access is via a paved road that ends at a small roadside parking area; spaces fill quickly in summer. Though not a fully serviced beach, a seasonal beach bar offers drinks and snacks. Families appreciate the safe, shallow entry, while soft sand and natural shade from the pines provide comfort. It can get busy in July and August, especially around midday. Bring your own umbrella and supplies if you prefer solitude, or rely on the bar for essentials. The rocky edges near the headland attract snorkellers.

    Saliara - Marble Beach

    Thassos
    In Thassos

Saliara, commonly called Marble Beach, is a compact shore on the northeast coast of Thassos. Smooth white marble pebbles cover the beach beneath low marble cliffs and sparse pine scrub, giving the shoreline a markedly different character from the island’s sandy bays. The verified record classifies Saliara as pebbly, with moderate typical water conditions. It is organised and lists sunbeds, umbrellas and a beach bar, while roadside parking is the confirmed parking arrangement. The existing description notes clear water that deepens quickly and a beach that becomes busier during the main season. No unlisted facility is treated as definitely absent, and the page does not estimate access times or road conditions because those details are not stored in the structured record. The combination of a compact marble shore and recorded summer services defines the visit more accurately than a generic sandy-beach description.

    Alyki

    Thassos
    In Thassos

Alyki sits on the south-west coast of Thassos, a short drive from the village of Theologos. The setting is striking: a broad sandy cove flanked by low, scrub-covered hills and backed by the remains of an ancient marble quarry. The sand is pale and fine, shelving gently into clear, calm water that stays shallow for some distance—ideal for paddling children. The beach faces south-west, so it catches the afternoon sun and usually has a light breeze. Access from the main road is via a paved lane that ends at a sizeable roadside parking area. It is fully organised in summer: rows of sunbeds and umbrellas line the sand, a taverna serves fresh seafood and cold drinks, and basic facilities include showers and toilets. Despite the facilities, Alyki never feels crowded, partly because the bay is wide and the atmosphere remains relaxed. Good for families and anyone wanting a convenient, comfortable day by the sea with a touch of ancient history nearby.

    Chrysi Akti

    Thassos
    In Thassos

On the east coast of Thassos, a long arc of golden sand stretches between low headlands. The water is clear and shallow, shelving gently – good for children and less confident swimmers. The beach faces the open Aegean, so a moderate swell often rolls in, though the bay offers shelter from the strongest winds. A fringe of pines and olive groves provides some natural shade, but most visitors make use of the rows of sunbeds and umbrellas that line the shore. Chrysi Akti is well-served: several tavernas and a beach bar serve food and drinks, and there are showers, toilets and a lifeguard on duty through the summer. Parking is in a large lot just behind the beach, and the road from Limenas (12 km north) is paved. Water sports are available – pedalos, jet skis – and the beach can get lively in July and August. For a quieter spot, the far ends of the bay are less crowded.

    Thassos
    In Thassos

Chrysi Ammoudia, often called Golden Beach, lies on the east coast of Thassos, about 12 km south of the port town of Limenas. It is a broad sweep of golden sand over a kilometre long, backed by a fringe of tamarisk trees and low pine-covered hills. The water is clear and shelving gently, with moderate wave action that builds a pleasant shore break—fine for swimming but not for small children without supervision. The beach is well organised: rows of sunbeds and umbrellas line the sand, and several seaside tavernas serve grilled fish and cold drinks. Parking is mostly roadside along the access road, though there are small lots behind the tavernas. It can get busy in July and August, especially around midday, but the length of the beach means you can always find a quieter spot. If you prefer shade, arrive early to claim a spot under the tamarisks. This is a good all-rounder for families, sunbathers, and anyone wanting a reliable, serviced beach with easy access.

    Limenaria

    Thassos
    In Thassos

Limenaria Beach is the main stretch of sand fronting the lively resort town of the same name on Thassos' southwest coast. It forms a broad, gently shelving bay with soft golden sand and moderate waves, making it a safe choice for families and swimmers of all abilities. The beach is fully organised: rows of sunbeds and umbrellas line the shore, while a coastal promenade behind it hosts tavernas, bars, and shops. Parking is roadside along the seafront, though it can be tight in peak season. Showers and public toilets are available. The atmosphere is sociable and busy through July and August, with plenty of opportunities for a long lunch or a drink overlooking the water. Early mornings and evenings are quieter, good for a stroll or a swim before the crowds arrive. The seabed shelves gently, and the water is clear enough for snorkelling around the rocks at the edges. For those wanting a more secluded spot, smaller coves lie just around the headlands to either side.

    Makriammos

    Thassos
    In Thassos

Makriammos sits on the northern coast of Thassos, within easy reach of the island's main town, Limenas. This broad, sandy beach forms a gentle crescent, protected by low wooded headlands that keep the sea generally calm, though a moderate swell can roll in on windier afternoons. The shore slopes gradually, making it a favourite for families with small children who can paddle safely in the shallow water. A single row of tamarisk trees provides scattered shade behind the sunbed area. Reaching it is straightforward: a paved road from Limenas leads directly to a small car park that fills quickly on summer mornings. Visitors who arrive late may need to park along the roadside and walk a short distance. The beach is well organised, with rows of sunbeds and umbrellas for hire, and a beach bar serving drinks and snacks. There are no permanent tavernas on the sand itself, but the bar covers the basics. In peak season it gets busy, especially around midday, though the size of the beach means it rarely feels cramped. It is a practical, convenient choice for a day by the sea, with easy access to town amenities when needed.

    About Thassos

Thassos is a lush, mountainous island in the northern Aegean Sea, belonging to the Thracian Sporades group. Known for its pine forests, marble quarries, and traditional villages, it combines green hills with sandy coves. The island is relatively compact—around 25 km long and 20 km wide—making it easy to explore in a short stay.

Its beaches vary from long golden strands to intimate pebble bays. On the east coast, Golden Beach is a popular wide stretch of sand, while the south offers Saliara (Marble Beach) with its white pebbles and turquoise water, and Alyki with its shallow bay and ancient marble quarries. West coast beaches include Skala Rachoni, a sandy family spot, and Limenaria with its waterfront tavernas. North of Limenaria, Porto Vathy is a sheltered cove with clear water. Smaller beaches like Pefkari, Alexandra, and Astris offer quieter options.

Beyond the coast, the main town Thassos (Limenas) has an ancient agora, acropolis, and a small archaeological museum. Limenaria is a busy resort with a beachfront, while the mountain village of Theologos preserves traditional stone architecture. The island’s interior is crisscrossed by hiking trails through olive groves and pine forests, and the Monastery of Archangel Michael perched on a cliff offers wide views.

Thassos has no airport. It is reached by a short car-ferry from Kavala (Keramoti) or Kavala port on the northern Greek mainland; the nearest airport is Kavala 'Megas Alexandros' (KVA). On the island, a car is the most practical way to reach the many beaches and villages. The beach season runs from May to October, with July and August being the busiest and warmest.
