Description
Makriammos sits on the northern coast of Thassos, within easy reach of the island's main town, Limenas. This broad, sandy beach forms a gentle crescent, protected by low wooded headlands that keep the sea generally calm, though a moderate swell can roll in on windier afternoons. The shore slopes gradually, making it a favourite for families with small children who can paddle safely in the shallow water. A single row of tamarisk trees provides scattered shade behind the sunbed area. Reaching it is straightforward: a paved road from Limenas leads directly to a small car park that fills quickly on summer mornings. Visitors who arrive late may need to park along the roadside and walk a short distance. The beach is well organised, with rows of sunbeds and umbrellas for hire, and a beach bar serving drinks and snacks. There are no permanent tavernas on the sand itself, but the bar covers the basics. In peak season it gets busy, especially around midday, though the size of the beach means it rarely feels cramped. It is a practical, convenient choice for a day by the sea, with easy access to town amenities when needed.
