Description
Chrysi Ammoudia, often called Golden Beach, lies on the east coast of Thassos, about 12 km south of the port town of Limenas. It is a broad sweep of golden sand over a kilometre long, backed by a fringe of tamarisk trees and low pine-covered hills. The water is clear and shelving gently, with moderate wave action that builds a pleasant shore break—fine for swimming but not for small children without supervision. The beach is well organised: rows of sunbeds and umbrellas line the sand, and several seaside tavernas serve grilled fish and cold drinks. Parking is mostly roadside along the access road, though there are small lots behind the tavernas. It can get busy in July and August, especially around midday, but the length of the beach means you can always find a quieter spot. If you prefer shade, arrive early to claim a spot under the tamarisks. This is a good all-rounder for families, sunbathers, and anyone wanting a reliable, serviced beach with easy access.
