Description
Alyki sits on the south-west coast of Thassos, a short drive from the village of Theologos. The setting is striking: a broad sandy cove flanked by low, scrub-covered hills and backed by the remains of an ancient marble quarry. The sand is pale and fine, shelving gently into clear, calm water that stays shallow for some distance—ideal for paddling children. The beach faces south-west, so it catches the afternoon sun and usually has a light breeze. Access from the main road is via a paved lane that ends at a sizeable roadside parking area. It is fully organised in summer: rows of sunbeds and umbrellas line the sand, a taverna serves fresh seafood and cold drinks, and basic facilities include showers and toilets. Despite the facilities, Alyki never feels crowded, partly because the bay is wide and the atmosphere remains relaxed. Good for families and anyone wanting a convenient, comfortable day by the sea with a touch of ancient history nearby.
