Description
San Antonio sits on Thassos' east coast, a short drive south of the resort village of Potos. The beach is a broad arc of soft golden sand, shelving gently into clear, moderate surf that makes it safe for swimming without being flat. Tamarisk trees fringe the back of the beach, providing patches of natural shade. Access is via a paved road that ends at a small roadside parking area, which fills quickly in high season. The beach is well organised: rows of sunbeds and umbrellas cover much of the sand, and a beach bar and taverna serve drinks and grilled seafood right on the shore. Toilets and outdoor showers are available. Families with young children appreciate the shallow water and the calm atmosphere, while older visitors enjoy the easy amenities and mountain backdrop. In July and August it can get busy, but the long shoreline means you can always find space towards the edges. Bring water shoes if you want to explore the rocky headland to the north, but otherwise everything you need is here.
