    Description

Agios Ioannis is a long sandy beach on the east coast of Thassos, a short drive south from the village of Potamia. The shore is gently shelving with calm, clear water, making it safe for young children. The beach is backed by low hills covered in olive groves and pines. Access is via a paved road that ends at the beach, with parking along the roadside. Although the beach has traditionally offered sunbed rentals and a couple of tavernas, current information suggests it may be undeveloped; visitors should bring their own supplies just in case. The moderate wave exposure means there is usually a pleasant swell. Snorkelling is good around the rocky headlands at either end. It can get busy during July and August, but the spacious beach rarely feels overcrowded.
