Snorkeling-rated beaches in Thassos share a recognizable profile: clear water with good visibility, rocky reef structure or boulders near the shoreline that shelter small fish, sheltered bays where wind chop stays minimal, and either organized facilities (so you can rent a mask if you forgot one) or easy access to a protected cove. Mediterranean water is naturally clear because there's almost no plankton bloom in summer, so on a calm day you can routinely see 10–15 metres down.

Porto Vathy is a pebbly beach on the southern coast of Thassos, set in a small bay with gentle hills backing the shore. The water here is clear and moderately exposed to the open sea, so it can have a light swell on breezy days.

Agios Ioannis is a long sandy beach on the east coast of Thassos, a short drive south from the village of Potamia. The shore is gently shelving with calm, clear water, making it safe for young children. The beach is backed by low hills covered in olive groves and pines.

Along the southeast coast of Thassos, just west of Potos, Paradise Beach is a broad sandy strand backed by pines and low dunes. The water is clear with a gentle to moderate swell, good for swimming and snorkelling. Access is via a paved road that ends at a small roadside parking area; spaces fill quickly in summer.

On the northeast coast of Thassos, just beyond the village of Rachoni, Skala Rachoni stretches as a broad, gently sloping sweep of sand. The beach faces east, catching the morning sun and sheltered from the worst of the Meltemi by low hills.

Tarsanas is a quiet cove on the west coast of Thassos, tucked between the villages of Potos and Limenaria. Low cliffs frame a narrow shore of mixed pebbles and sand, with water that can range from flat to moderately choppy depending on the wind.

Thimonia is a small pebble cove on the east coast of Thassos, a few kilometres south of Potos. The beach is tucked between low rocky headlands, with a narrow strip of grey-white pebbles that shelve gently into clear water. The seabed is also pebbly, so water shoes are a good idea.
