Description
Skala Prinou is the main beach of the village of the same name on Thassos' north coast, a long stretch of coarse sand facing the sea of Thrace. The waves here are moderate, big enough for a proper swim but rarely rough, and the shore shelves gently, making it a safe choice for children. The beach is backed by a line of tamarisk trees and a handful of tavernas that spill onto the sand in summer, renting out sunbeds and umbrellas. Reaching it is straightforward: turn off the coastal road just west of the port and park along the roadside verge. The atmosphere is relaxed and family-oriented, and the water stays shallow for a good distance. Despite being one of the island's better-equipped beaches, it never feels overdeveloped. What makes it stand out is its length—there is always space to lay a towel away from the clusters of sunbeds. Consider coming in the late afternoon, when the low sun lights up the green hills behind the village. You'll find everything you need for a day under the Greek sun: simple taverna food, cold drinks, and that calm, welcoming Thassos light.
