Description
Mastichari Bay stretches along the north coast of Kos, just west of the village of Mastichari. The beach is a broad sweep of sand, with shallow, clear water that shelves gently – ideal for children and paddling. The setting is open and exposed, so the meltemi breeze often picks up in the afternoon, making this a spot for windsurfing and kitesurfing. You reach it by following the coast road from Kos Town towards Mastichari; roadside parking lines much of the beachfront, though it fills early in high season. The beach is well organised: rows of sunbeds and umbrellas run the length of the sand, and several tavernas and beach bars serve drinks and food. A small harbour at the eastern end adds some interest, and boat trips depart from the jetty. Facilities include showers and toilets. It can get busy in July and August, but the length of the beach means you can usually find space. Best for families and anyone wanting water sports on tap, rather than seclusion.
