    About Skiathos

    Skiathos is the beach capital of the Sporades — a small, green, pine-cloaked island in the northwest Aegean with more than sixty beaches and its own international airport bringing visitors from across Europe through the summer. The south and west coasts are a near-continuous run of sheltered, sandy bays: Koukounaries, a pine-backed crescent of golden sand regularly named among the finest beaches in Greece; the lively, watersports-driven Banana and Vromolimnos; and family beaches at Agia Paraskevi and Kanapitsa. On the wild north coast, boat trips reach Lalaria, a dramatic white-pebble cove framed by a natural stone arch and sheer cliffs, accessible only from the sea. The cosmopolitan main town sits a short hop from Skopelos and the Northern Sporades Marine Park, and the warm beach season runs from May into October.
