Description
On the eastern coast of Skopelos, a short drive south-east of the main town, Velanio is a small cove set among low scrub and rocky headlands. The beach slopes gently into the sea, with moderate wave action that keeps the water clear but not flat. A patch of pines and olive trees behind the sand provides scattered shade. Access is via a short dirt track from the road, with space for a few cars along the roadside. There are no facilities; visitors must bring everything they need. The beach remains largely quiet, frequented mainly by locals and a handful of travellers who know the spot. It is not suitable for those wanting umbrellas or tavernas, but rewarding for a peaceful swim with views across the Aegean. The rocky edges make for decent snorkelling when the sea is calm. Velanio suits those seeking a stripped-back day by the sea.
