Description
Plaka is a long, pebbly beach on Skopelos's northwest coast, a short drive south of Panormos village. It stretches along the head of a wide bay, backed by low cliffs and scattered pines. The water is clear and typically calm, though moderate wave exposure can bring some gentle swell. The beach is well organised: sunbeds and umbrellas line the shore, and a beach bar and taverna serve food and drinks by the water. Showers and toilets are provided. Access is by a paved road that ends near the beach; parking is roadside and can fill up in July and August. The pebbles are smooth but a mat or sunbed is advisable for comfort. This is a reliable choice for families, with shallow entry and a relaxed atmosphere. It gets busy in peak season, but the length helps disperse the crowd. Bring water shoes if you prefer not to use the sunbeds, and arrive early for a good spot near the water.
