Description
Small northeast-facing cove on Zakynthos’ east/northeast coast known for natural sulfur springs that turn the clear water a milky-turquoise. Shore is a mix of smooth white pebbles and coarse sand; water becomes deep quickly with rocky patches. Generally sheltered but exposed to northerly/easterly winds—conditions vary from calm to a light chop, with occasional stronger wave action. Access is via steep stairs from the roadside above; space on the beach is limited and it fills quickly in high season. Facilities typically include a handful of managed sunbeds/umbrellas and a taverna above the beach that serves food to the shore; very limited dedicated/paid parking by the descent plus additional roadside spots. Notable cautions: distinct sulfur smell, cold springs, slippery rocks underfoot, sudden depth, crowding, and no lifeguard.
