    The Best Beaches in Mykonos

12 standout Mykonos beaches, from the party sands of Paradise to the wild cove at Kapari — grouped by coast, with access, family and scene notes.

Curated by the Beach Atlas team · Updated June 2026

Mykonos splits cleanly by coast. The sheltered south side holds almost all the famous beaches — the party sands of Paradise and Super Paradise, the see-and-be-seen bay of Psarou, and the long, family-friendly stretches of Platis Gialos, Ornos and Elia. The exposed north coast is windier and quieter, home to back-to-nature spots like Agios Sostis and Panormos. Browse every verified beach on the island in Mykonos, or compare the wider Cyclades from the areas index.

The south-coast beaches are the calm, swimmable default because the island's hills shelter them from the prevailing meltemi; the north can chop up fast when the wind turns. Most beaches are reachable by road, but a couple of the best — quiet Agrari and the wild cove at Kapari — need your own wheels and a short walk. This is a curated best-of rather than the full list; pick a coast below, then use each beach page for access detail before you go.

South coast: the icons and the party beaches

The south side faces away from the wind, so this is where the calm water and the scene both live. Paradise is the island's world-famous party beach — golden sand by day, DJ sets and a full club scene by night, with water sports off the sand. Super Paradise sits in a sheltered cove framed by granite outcrops and runs the same lively beach-club energy from mid-afternoon. For the polished, see-and-be-seen version, Psarou curls into a graceful horseshoe bay with fine sand, calm shallows and the upscale Nammos club. All three are organized, crowded in peak season and pricey on the premium loungers, so arrive early or book ahead.

Family-friendly and relaxed south & southeast bays

These are the calm, sandy bays for swimming and longer days with kids. Platis Gialos is a bustling, semi-sheltered stretch of fine golden sand with crystal-clear shallow water and a row of beach clubs and tavernas. Ornos sits in a sheltered bay just south of town with a gently sloping shore, calm water and shops and restaurants steps away — one of the easiest family-friendly choices. Further east, Elia is one of the island's longest sandy beaches, spacious and upscale, while Kalo Livadi offers fine white sand and a shallow entry with a mix of lively clubs and quieter spots. For a calmer alternative just east of Elia, Agrari is partly organized, sheltered from the north winds and often very calm — though the last stretch of road is rough.

Quiet north coast and wild coves

When you want fewer crowds, head north or to the island's edges — just check the wind first. Panormos is a relaxed, elegant sandy beach in a protected northern bay, with soft pale sand and fewer crowds than the south. Nearby Agios Sostis is a back-to-nature beach with no sunbeds and just a rustic taverna above the sand — bring your own shade and water. On the southeast coast, Lia is a tranquil cove with soft sand, crystal-clear water ideal for snorkeling and a large free car park behind it. And for the wildest pick, Kapari is tucked behind the Agios Ioannis chapel — soft sand, very clear water and steep, unorganized access, prized for its quiet sunset views.
