    The Best Beaches in Corfu

11 standout Corfu beaches, from the sandstone channels of Canal d'Amour to the hidden double cove of Porto Timoni — grouped by coast, with access and family notes.

Curated by the Beach Atlas team · Updated June 2026

Corfu is greener and more sheltered than the Cyclades, and its beaches change character with the coast. The northwest, around Sidari and Paleokastritsa, holds the headline geology: the carved sandstone channels of Canal d'Amour and the hidden double cove of Porto Timoni below Afionas. The west coast trades calm for drama, with the golden Blue Flag sand of Glyfada and the secluded cliff cove of Myrtiotissa. The sheltered east and south are where the families go — Blue Flag bays like Dassia and the dune-backed lagoon at Issos. Browse every verified beach on the island in Corfu.

This is a curated best-of rather than the full list — a car helps for nearly all of them, and a couple, like Porto Timoni, need a steep hike or a boat, while Rovinia is a wild, secluded cove. Pick a coast below, then use each beach page for access detail before you go.

Northwest coast (Sidari & Paleokastritsa): the icons

The northwest holds some of Corfu's most dramatic coastal scenery. Canal d'Amour is a dramatic natural channel carved into yellow sandstone cliffs near Sidari, opening into small coves and caves with rentable sunbeds and very clear water for exploring. Porto Timoni is a hidden double-cove gem beneath Afionas, where two pebbly bays meet on a narrow spit — fully unorganized and reached by a steep 20–30 minute hike down or by boat, so bring everything you need and arrive early. For a gentler day in the same corner, Agios Georgios Pagon is a long, gently curving bay of soft golden sand with shallow, clear water that suits swimming and families.

West coast: golden sand and cliff coves

The west faces the open Ionian and runs from wide resort beaches to wild, hard-to-reach coves. Glyfada is one of the island's most popular west-coast beaches — a wide, Blue Flag stretch of golden sand and turquoise water backed by green hills, with full facilities and a lifeguard. Agios Gordios is a long, picturesque bay framed by green hills and the dramatic Ortholithos rock outcrop, with a relaxed resort-village feel and good sunsets. For seclusion, Myrtiotissa is a hidden cove of fine sand and exceptionally clear water below steep cliffs, lightly organized and reached by a rugged path, while Rovinia is a wild, unorganized cove near Liapades surrounded by cliffs and dense vegetation, with clear turquoise water and a quiet, off-beat atmosphere.

East & south coast: sheltered family bays

The east and south are calmer and better suited to families. Dassia is a popular Blue Flag bay about 10–12 km from Corfu Town, with a gently sloping seabed that stays shallow a good distance out and a backdrop of green hills, hotels and tavernas. Benitses is a Blue Flag east-coast beach with a small sandy strip by the marina, calm water and easy bus access from town. On the northeast coast, Barbati is a stylish pebble beach beneath Mount Pantokrator with a dramatic mountain-meets-sea backdrop. To the southwest, Issos is a long, sandy Blue Flag stretch backed by impressive dunes beside the protected Korission Lagoon — good for swimming, wind- and kite-surfing, and nature walks.
