    Best Pebble Beaches in Kefalonia

4 verified pebble beaches, ranked with Blue Flag certifications first.

Curated by the Beach Atlas team · Updated July 2026

Pebble beaches in Kefalonia trade soft sand for rounded stones, shingle, and exceptionally clear-looking water at the shoreline: without fine sand being stirred into suspension, visibility often stays sharp even close to shore. They are a strong fit for swimming and snorkeling, but the practical trade-off matters when booking — pack water shoes for hot or uneven pebbles, and check each beach's entry and wave notes because some pebble shores deepen quickly. For softer footing and typically shallower entries, compare our sandy beaches guide.

Below are the pebble-classified beaches we've verified in Kefalonia. We keep the surface filter strict: only beaches whose primary surface is pebbles or shingle are included, while mixed sand-and-pebble beaches stay outside this collection. Petani Beach in Kefalonia, featuring a pebbly shoreline with moderate water conditions
    Matt Sims

    Petani Beach

    Kefalonia

Best for: verified pebble shoreline, organized setup, beach bar on site

Petani is the western counterpart to Myrtos — a dramatic white-pebble bay framed by tall cliffs on the Lixouri peninsula, with the same deep-blue water but a longer, less-crowded shoreline. A small taverna and bar sit at the access road; the beach itself is partly organised with sunbeds.

Emplisi Beach in Kefalonia, featuring a pebbly shoreline with calm water conditions

    Emplisi Beach

    Kefalonia

Best for: verified pebble shoreline, calm swimming, snorkeling

Emplisi (also Emblisi) is a small pebble cove a kilometre north of Fiskardo with exceptionally clear water and a rocky surround that snorkellers prefer over the busier organised beaches. There are no facilities on the beach itself; visitors typically bring water and an umbrella.

    Foki Beach

    Kefalonia

Best for: verified pebble shoreline, calm swimming, snorkeling

Foki is a small pebble beach tucked into a cypress-and-pine grove just south of Fiskardo, on Kefalonia's northeast tip. The setting is unusually green for a Greek island, with shade from the trees reaching almost to the water — rare on a Kefalonian beach. A single taverna serves the cove.

    Fteri Beach

    Kefalonia

Best for: verified pebble shoreline, calm swimming, snorkeling

Fteri Bay sits on the remote northwestern coast and is one of the most secluded beaches on the island — turquoise water against a backdrop of vertical cliffs, white pebbles, and no road access. Visitors arrive either by boat (regular taxi-boats from Agia Kiriaki) or via a strenuous 30–45 minute hike down a steep path.
